South Carolina Continues Inconsistency, Falls to Mississippi State

Columbia, SC --- On Saturday afternoon, South Carolina's Men's Basketball team were looking to build off their upset win over the Florida Gators this past Wednesday, but instead things went the opposite way for the Gamecocks.

After a back-and-fourth game early on, it would ultimately be South Carolina's offensive inconsistencies and turnovers that would be the difference makers to put Frank Martin's team behind at halftime, 38-30.

The speech that Martin gave his team at halftime obviously worked as the Gamecocks came out strong offensively in the second half. After sinking 3 three-pointers, two of them shot by Seventh Woods, South Carolina had overcame their first half struggles and tied the game with the Bulldogs, 39-39.

Despite their strong start, the Gamecocks struggles from the first half resurfaced in the second half and Mississippi State (11-9, 5-6 SEC) was able to capitalize and take control down the stretch to come away with the 75-59 victory over South Carolina.

The Gamecocks (5-7, 3-5 SEC) will look to bounce-back on Tuesday night against No. 11 Alabama at 6:30 p.m. at Colonial Life Arena.
